How to USB to Serial via Ubuntu

> Plug the connector to a USB Port. and verify if you can see the device

$ dmesg | grep tty
[ 0.000000] console [tty0] enabled
[ 45.368522] usb 1-3: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0

> Install minicom if not yes installed

$ sudo apt-get install minicom

> Configure minicom according the serial connection settings

$ sudo minicom -s

> Choose ,,Serial port setup” and change the Serial device to /dev/ttyUSB0 (from the grep result made earlier)

A – Serial Device : /dev/ttyUSB0

> Set the Bps/Par/Bits to 9600 8N1. Your config should look like one below

A – Serial Device : /dev/ttyUSB0
B – Lockfile Location : /var/lock
C – Callin Program :
D – Callout Program :
E – Bps/Par/Bits : 9600 8N1
F – Hardware Flow Control : Yes
G – Software Flow Control : No

Change which setting?

> The ,,Save setup as dfl.” after which press exit and enter , you should be redirected to the console
